Message from the Apostolic Administrator

Bishop Florencio

Beloved People of God:

With much faith and vigor in the service of the Lord, I look forward to the year 2018 as we await the 4th Philippine Visit of the Pilgrim Relics of St. Therese of the Child Jesus from January 13 to May 31, 2018, to be hosted by our beloved Military Ordinariate of the Philippines.

St. Therese of the Child Jesus would come as a humble model of our own Christian discipleship and missionary zeal. Her previous visits in the years 2000, 2008 and 2013 have given us soo much graces and heavenly favors. Countless faithful have been touched, renewed, and reinvigorated in the witnessing of their lives for Jesus. Thus, the theme, “SALAMAT, SAINT THERESE,” came up as a result of our deep reflection and gratitude for the bountiful graces God has lavished on us, through the intercession of Saint Therese.

This pilgrimage of the Relics of the Little Flower, who in her entrance to Carmel declared, “I have come to save souls, and especially to pray for Priests,” would be most auspicious and timely because the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has dedicated the Year 2018 as the Year of the Clergy. It would also be a grace-filled event for our Filipino People as we look forward to the 5th Centenary of the First Baptism and Mass in the Philippines in 2021.

As St. Therese of the Child Jesus visits forty-five Philippine archdioceses/dioceses and major AFP/PNP Camps all over the country, it is our fervent hope that in every Filipino she may find open hearts and welcoming homes.

I remain,

+ OSCAR JAIME L. FLORENCIO, DD., SThD
