Story sent by Adrian Vergel Ballares
St. Therese is my patroness. I’ve known her since I was in grade school. I really admire her Little Way.
I was blessed to see her relics during her third visit last 2012-2013. It was on January 24, 2013, my 24th birthday, when I was able to visit her relics at the Mater Carmeli Monastery in Sta. Ignacia, Tarlac. It was also my first time to visit the said monastery, where my Carmelite nun friend was then prioress. A lot of wonderful things have happened to me since then. She showered me with roses from heaven as she promised!
I’ve been smelling scents of roses and I know that it is her response to my prayers. Sometimes, someone will give me a rose for no reason at all.
During the visit of her relics, I was still discerning whether to enter religious life. My discernment was not that easy since I do not have a spiritual director. I always pray to St. Therese, asking for her intercession to help me. And she led me to Carmel!
A few months after her visit, I started communicating with the Carmelite fathers and on December 2013, I attended the search-in. My aspirancy then began.
My aspirancy was prolonged because of the financial status of my family. I am the eldest so I needed to help my parents in sending my two younger siblings to school. I prayed to St. Therese for the financial stability of my family so that I can already enter the religious life.
It was in 2015 when my younger sister graduated from college and the financial status of my family became more stable.
I started my journey to the religious life last June of 2017 and joined the Carmelites. I know that she is journeying with me through her intercession. St. Therese is one of my inspirations as I journey in Carmel.
I am proud to say that I am a Theresian by heart and I am always doing my best to imitate her Little Way, the way of total trust and absolute surrender to God’s Will!
In Jesus and Mary,

P.S. I was one of her 1,000 ROSES during her visit. I would love to be one of her roses again but I am already in the seminary as a Carmelite postulant. I will just pray for the success of her 4th visit.
